For the upper torso (chest plate) take a look at the Jetpack jones model. Basically, you need to make a 'vest/t-shirt' type model/geometry. For example, holes where the arms/sleeves and neck would be. As I said, take a look at the JPJ model. The stomach area (lower torso), thats just the bottom of JPJ's upper body. Basically a tube. You can look at the 'half-rig' we used in the rigging classes (Rigging 3 - IK/FK switch tutorial) as an example too. Give it a go.

Delete...In both cases (JPJ and the half rig) you need to delete the collar and sleeve.
